
Men's Lacrosse Rolls to 17-8 Win at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Eleven different Orange players scored, including three goals apiece by seniors Brett Bucktooth, Brian Crockett and sophomore Mike Leveille as the No. 8-ranked Syracuse men's lacrosse team defeated Colgate, 17-8, in the final regular-season game for both teams. The 17 goals were the most scored by SU this season.
Colgate (11-4) led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter. Rob Ryan scored the Raiders' first goal and then he and Robert Trasolini netted two goals in the final 22 seconds of the period to take its last lead of the day.
Syracuse (8-4) had a big second quarter thanks to a six-of-eight performance at the face-off X by junior Jon Jerome who helped deliver possessions. The Orange scored five-straight goals to take a 7-3 lead. Bucktooth, Crockett, Leveille, senior Nathan Kenney and freshman Matt Abbott all registered goals.
Brian Robinson scored with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter to pull Colgate to within 7-4, but SU clamped down and held the Raiders scoreless during the next 22 minutes, 20 seconds to bust the game open by a nine-goal advantage, 13-4, by the end of the third quarter.
Sophomore midfielder Brendan Loftus scored his first goal of the season with 7:04 remaining in the third quarter, while senior attackman Timothy Raschdorf and redshirt freshman Chris Greenman each recorded their first collegiate goals in the fourth quarter.
Peter Coluccini played nearly 50 minutes in goal for Syracuse before being replaced by sophomore Jake Myers in the fourth quarter. Coluccini finished with seven saves, while Myers recorded three.
The Orange outshot Colgate, 52-39. It was the most shot attempts for SU all year.
Raider goalie Andrew Jarolimek played the entire game in goal and finished with 14 saves.
Crockett, who scored a season-high three goals, moved into a tie for 16th place on the school's all-time goals list (109) with John Zulberti who played at Syracuse from 1986-89.
Bucktooth continued his hot scoring spree. He has now tallied 20 goals in SU's last six outings. It was his seventh hat trick of the season and sixth straight.
SU will participate in the NCAA Tournament for the 24th consecutive season beginning next weekend. The team will learn its first-round matchup when the NCAA announces the 16-team tournament field on Sunday, May 7, at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNews.
