Pryor Wins Pair Of Events At Empire State Games Tryouts

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore thrower Brittany Pryor (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) competed in the Empire State Games Western tryouts on June 17 and participated in the hammer throw, discus throw, and shot put. She won the discus and the shot put and finished second in the hammer to advance to the Empire State Games in all three events next month.
Pryor, who redshirted this year for the Orange, set a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 16.26m. She recorded a mark of 48.42m in the discus to take that event. Both efforts would be NCAA Regional qualifying marks.
The Empire State Games kick off with the Opening Ceremony on July 26 at 7:30 p.m. at PAETEC Park in Rochester. The track and field portion of the games will be held at Fauver Stadium on the campus of the University of Rochester. Competition is scheduled for July 27-29.
