SYRACUSE, NY - Head coach Bruiser Flint will bring his Drexel squad to the Carrier Dome for a pairing with Syracuse on Tuesday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. The Orange won both previous encounters with the Dragons, winning an NCAA West Regional pairing in 1996, 69-58, and a home contest in 2004, 74-54.
Coach Flint's squad was 15-16 a season ago. The Dragons were 10-8 in the Colonial Athletic Association regular season and lost in the first round of the conference tournament to Delaware, 52-49. Drexel won two games in the preseason NIT before losing in the semifinals to Duke, 78-68.
Senior guard Dominick Mejia is the top returning scorer (15.3 ppg.) for the Dragons. Junior center Fank Elegar, who averaged 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, is another key performer among four returning starters.
The Orange has already announced 2006-07 home games with Charlotte (Nov. 22), Holy Cross (Nov. 27), Colgate (Dec. 9), and Baylor (Dec. 16).
