PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior defender Brad Peetoom (Abbotsford, British Columbia) was named to the first BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Honor Roll of the year on Monday, Aug. 28 for his performance in SU’s, 3-1, season-opening win against Niagara. Peetoom anchored a unit that held the Purple Eagles scoreless for the first 85 minutes of the game.
Peetoom, a 2006 co-captain, continually marked 2005 MAAC Player of the Year Matt Stedman and held him to three shots, none of them serious scoring chances. As a whole, the Orange defense limited Niagara to nine shots in the contest.
Syracuse returns to the pitch on Friday, Sept. 1 when it plays at Loyola (Md.).
