A New Face and a New Title for the Dome Staff

Syracuse University senior associate athletics director Pat Campbell named Mark Barbuto as the Carrier Dome event staff supervisor and promoted business manager Andy Frazo to assistant athletics director for finance and business.

“We are extremely fortunate to add such an experienced professional such as Mark Barbuto to our staff,” Campbell said. “He brings a wealth of expertise in the arena management field, especially in staff management and customer service. Andy Frazo has been an exceptional business manager for many years and his promotion to assistant athletics director is well deserved. Andy will continue to utilize his talents at the Dome and will provide valuable assistant to the Athletics Department business operation.”

A veteran of the event services industry, Barbuto will be responsible for supervising the ushers, ticket-takers, civilian security and medical staff working all Carrier Dome events. He will also assist in maintaining the Dome's scheduling system and be responsible for maintaining the Dome's staff policy manuals and staff training. A native of Upstate New York, Barbuto has worked in event management for the Mullins Center at the University of Massachusetts, the First Arena in Elmira, N.Y., and the Rhode Island Convention Center.

“It is truly a pleasure to join the management team at the Carrier Dome,” Barbuto said. “My family and I are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity. As a native of Central New York, I have fond memories of coming to the Dome as a child, and the feeling you get when you walk into this facility. Years later, I still get the same feeling. I look forward to many exciting years of service to the Carrier Dome and Syracuse University.”

Frazo, who has been the business manager at the Carrier Dome since 1992, will be responsible for managing the accounting and business affairs of the Carrier Dome and assisting the Athletics Department CFO with these functions in the Athletics Department. Frazo will participate in the long range financial planning for the Carrier Dome and Athletics Department and provide logistical planning and managerial supervision for events hosted by the Carrier Dome. Prior to joining the Dome staff, Frazo was the comptroller for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and served as a staff accountant at Price Waterhouse.

“I appreciate that Pat and Dr. Gross have given me this opportunity and look forward to working even more closely with (senior associate director of athletics) Rob Edson and the rest of the Athletics Department as we strive for the continued success of Syracuse University Athletics,” Frazo said.
