The Syracuse University football team will look to continue its winning ways as the Orange welcomes Wyoming to the Carrier Dome on Saturday. Syracuse has won two straight contests, including a 34-14 victory against Miami (OH) this past weekend. The Orange enters the game with a 2-2 record while Wyoming stands at 1-3. It is the first meeting between the two schools.

Cheer on the Orange in the Quad
Syracuse fans are invited to cheer on the Orange during the team’s Quad Walk at approximately 11 a.m. Pre-game festivities begin three hours prior to kick-off and activities on the Quad are for fans of all ages. They include games for the kids, a pre-game concert from the SU Marching Band, performance by the dance team and cheerleaders and giveaways including the official SU football poster.
Morris Returns To Dome for Legends Day
Running back Joe Morris returns to the stadium he helped open as part of SU’s “Legends Day”. Morris, who rushed fro three touchdowns and returned a kickoff for another TD in the first game at the Carrier Dome on Sept. 20, 1980, will be recognized at halftime. He holds the Orange records for rushing yards in a game (252), season (1,372) and career (4,299) and also owns the Syracuse standards for career carries (813), career rushing average (113.1 ypg), season rushing average (124.7 ypg, 1979) and most 100-yard games (22). Morris concluded his SU career in 1981 and went on to play for the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns in the NFL. He posted three 1,000-yard rushing seasons for the Giants including back-to back 1,000-yard campaigns in 1985 and 1986. Morris was selected to two Pro Bowls in his NFL career and helped New York to a victory against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI.

Patrick Shadle Earns Conference Honors
Sophomore Patrick Shadle was named the BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on two field goals and four extra points in Syracuse’s victory against Miami (OH). Shadle scored a career-best 10 points against the RedHawks. He hit field goals of 36 and 33 yards in SU’s 34-14 victory. Shadle currently leads the BIG EAST and is tied for 14th in the NCAA with 1.5 field goals per game. His 85.7 field goal percentage ranks second in the conference and is third in scoring among kickers. Shadle has connected on six-of-seven field goals during the year and has hit all 10 of his extra points.
McClain Leads Orange Sack Attack
The Orange defense has racked up 4.75 sacks per game, tied for first in the nation. Junior defensive end Jameel McClain leads the charge on defense, totaling 1.5 sacks per game, which is tied for second in the nation. He is also tied for 12th in the NCAA in tackles for loss per game (1.88). McClain leads the BIG EAST in sacks (6.0) and is tied for first in tackles for loss (7.5). He is also tied for third on the team with 23 tackles.
Smith Ranks Eight Nationally in Tackles
Team co-captain Kelvin Smith is ranked eighth nationally in tackles per game (10.75) and is tied for with 24th with 5.5 solo stops per game. Smith also ranks second in the BIG EAST in tackles (43). Against Miami (OH), Smith recorded seven tackles and blocked a field goal, the first of his career. He was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll following his performance against Wake Forest when he registered a career-best 16 tackles, including 13 solo stops.
