The preparations are underway for the Orange football home-opener set for Saturday, September 9 against nationally-ranked Iowa. The Carrier Dome Box Office will be open from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Labor Day (Monday, September 4). The toll-free phone number is 1-888-366-3849. Tickets are available online (click here) 24-hours a day. Head coach Greg Robinson said the team is learning from the season-opening loss at Wake Forest.
"I think that it is exciting that Iowa is coming here," Robinson said on Sunday. "They are a pretty good team and, I suspect that they will be in the top 15 this week. I think our players will like to be on national television and all that goes with it. It is just that much more exciting. We were competitive last night and we didn’t win. We will be very competitive on Saturday and we just have to do the right things to win that football game.”
The game is designated "Military and Emergency Services Day". A pre-game ceremony will include members of the military holding two United States flags on the field during the National Anthem and a moment of silence for those who died on 9/11/01.
In addition, prior to the game more than 200 Syracuse University student-athletes will surround the Carrier Dome to encourage donations to the United Way of Central New York as part of the ninth annual Dollar Days at the Dome program that benefits the United Way of Central New York. During the eight years of this program, more than $45,000 has been collected, including $5,468 in 2005 … A record $10,807 was donated in 2001 two weeks after the September 11 attack on the U.S. The United Way of Central New York helps thousands of people in the Syracuse community with more than 100 quality programs at its 40 member agencies.
The Box Office will resume its regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, September 5. The Box Office is open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays with a home football game.
