"We led during most of the games but lost the lead late," said head coach Jing Pu. "Buffalo is basically the same team as last year but we are young and inconsistent. Sophomore Emily Kaier and freshman Sarah Morton are becoming more productive in their hitting positions."
Junior Cheryl Cobbina led the team with 12 kills on the evening while freshman Sarah Morton added a personal-best eight kills. Morton’s attack percentage of .538 is the highest recorded by a SU player during a three-game match this season. Sophomore April Quigley posted a match-high 37 assists.
Junior Joscie Kaup led the Orange with 10 digs and four service aces. Her four aces matched a career high that she set in 2005 against Delaware State. Kaup is seven digs shy of fifth all-time in school history. Her 4.08 digs per game is the best in school history while her .31 aces per game rank fifth all-time.
Syracuse travels to Sacramento to compete at the Sacramento State Invitational this weekend. The Orange will square-off against San Francisco and UC Riverside on Friday and then take on Western Kentucky and the host Hornets on Saturday.
