
Orange Set To Open Second Half of Season In Boston

The Syracuse men's and women's swimming and diving teams enter the final stretch for the BIG EAST Championship when they head to Boston to take on Boston University on Saturday at noon. The Orangehad a successful begining of the season and recently returned from a training trip in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Syracuse has three more dual meets before the BIG EAST Championships in February.
Syracuse has had many of its athletes turn in top times and scores in the BIG EAST this season. Senior Luk Boral continues to be a force in the breaststroke, posting the 11th best time in the 200 (2:05.24) and the 18th-best in the 100 (57.62). Freshman Alex Taraskin is ranked high in almost every freestyle event. Taraskin is ranked 11th in the 1650 free (16:05.35), 18th in the 500 (4:36.90), 20th in the 200 (1:42.45) and 27th in the 100 (47.08) and has qualified for the BIG EAST Championship in all of those events.
Sophomore Catrina Roth hopes to make an impact in the BIG EAST in the backstroke in her second season with the Orange. Roth is 13th in the 100 (57.85) and 14th in the 200 (2:05.56) so far this season. Freshman Masha Glukhova has proved to be a strong performer in the breaststroke. Glukhova has the 16th-best time in the 200 (2:22.51) and the 21st in the 100 (1:06.88).
Graduate student Alida DiPlacido has broken the Syracuse diving records multiple times this year and her dominance is very present in the BIG EAST. Not only does DiPlacido have the top scores on both the one and three-meter boards, she is the only BIG EAST female diver to surpass 300 points in any competition.
