SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Day one of the Orange Invitational was a strong one for the swimming and diving teams. The men and women each won three of four events against Army and Marist. The men registered wins in the 400 yard medley relay, the 1,000 yard freestyle and the 200 yard IM. The women finished first in the 400 yard medley relay, 200 yard freestyle relay and the 1,000 yard freestyle.
The men's team of freshman Berk Kahraman, freshman Kuba Kotynia, sophomore Boldizar Kiss and junior Alex Taraskin posted a time of 3:30.25 in the 400 yard medley relay. Taraskin continued his success in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:47.66. Kotynia won the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:56.70.
In the 400 yard medley relay on the women's side, the team of junior Catrina Roth, sophomore Masha Glukhova, freshman Natalie Mazzetta and freshman Katlin O'Hara finished with time of 3:55.41. The women's other first place relay result came in the 200 freestyle when O'Hara, junior Sarah Manning, sophomore Katelyn Schumacher and sophomore Carolyn Delkus posted a time of 1:39.28. Mazzetta won the 1,000 yard freestyle in 10:20.12.
The Orange Invitational concludes with two sessions Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Nottingham High School. Diving goes at 11 a.m. at Webster Pool.
