Orange Wins 25 Events During Orange Invitational

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The swimming and diving team continued its dominance during day two of the Orange Invitational. Despite the event being non-scoring, the squad won 25 of 38 events, with the men winning 10 of 19 and the women winning 15 of 19 against Army and Marist.
The student-athletes were in the pool for a morning and afternoon session. During the first session, the men swimmers added to its four-win total from a day ago with wins in the 400 IM and the 100 Back. Freshman Kuba Kotynia posted a first-place finish in the 400 IM (4:11.67) and sophomore Arda Isiksalan was first in the 100 Back (52.95).
The men collected four wins in the afternoon. Alex Taraskin took home first in the 500 Free (4:41.06) and the 100 Free (47.63). Isiksalan won the 200 Breast (1:54.78) and the men's relay team of freshman Berk Kahraman, sophomore Boldizsar Kiss, Taraskin and Kotynia won the 200 Medley (1:37.15).
The women began the day with wins in the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 100 Breast, 100 Back, and 50 Free. Natalie Mazzetta finished first in the 400 IM (4:31.89), while junior Sarah Manning won the 100 Fly (1:00.09). Junior Dani Stein was victorious in the 100 Breast (1:08.28) and junior Catrina Roth won the 100 Back (58.39). Rounding out the wins for the women in the morning was sophomore Carolyn Delkus in the 50 Free (24.74).
They added to their total when Mazzetta finished first in the 500 Free (5:04.93) and the 200 Fly (2:06.89). Roth won the 200 Back (2:06.43) and freshman Katlin O'Hara finished first in the 100 Free (53.72). Sophomore Masha Glukhova was victorious in the 200 Breast (2:25.59). The relay team of Roth, Mazzetta, Glukhova and O'Hare won the 200 Medley relay (1:49.04) and Delkus, Manning, Mazzetta and O'Hara won the 400 Free relay (3:35.09).
The Orange hosts Pittsburgh Saturday, October 27 at 9 a.m. for the first BIG EAST action of the year.
