CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The final day of the Janis Hape Nike Cup concluded with both the men and women's swimming and diving teams finishing in sixth place. For the second day in a row freshman Kuba Kotynia took home a first place finish when he touched first in the 200 Breast (2:00.63).
In the men's 200 Back, freshman Berk Kahraman (1:49.12) and sophomore Arda Isiksalan (1:50.23) finished in seventh and eighth place. Sophomore Boldizsar Kiss finished seventh in the 200 Fly (1:50.44) and junior Alex Taraskin was 12th in the 200 Back (46.72). The trio of junior Matt Gerlach (16:09.97), sophomore Ben Santerre (16:20.71) and Taraskin (16:21.04) finished nine, 11 and 12 in the 1,650 Free.
In the 400 Free Relay, the team of Kahraman, Kiss, Taraskin and junior Matt Brock finished 12th (3:07.78).
For the women, junior Catrina Roth posted a sixth place finish in the 200 Back (2:02.13). Freshman Natalie Mazzetta (2:03.63) finished seventh and sophomore Katelyn Schumacher (2:08.65) was 12th in the 200 Fly.
The group of Mazzetta, junior Sarah Manning, sophomore Carolyn Delkus and freshman Katlin O'Hara finished 10th in the 400 Free.
The team has next weekend off by will compete in the US S.C. National from November 29 – December 3.
