Orange Tries To Land Warhawks On Sunday

The women's basketball team is back on the hardwood on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET when it takes on Louisiana-Monroe in the championship game of the Taco Bell Warhawk Classic. The Orange advances after defeating Eastern Kentucky 88-67 Saturday afternoon and Louisiana-Monroe moves on after a win against Alabama State, 68-55.

Junior guard Chandrea Jones is coming off a career-high 27 point performance. She posted 17 first half points and 10 second half points against the Lady Colonels. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. The Orange helped its cause during the game by shooting 62.1 percent (18-29) from the floor in the first half and 50.9 percent (29-57) for the game.
The team's leading scorer, senior forward Fantasia Goodwin, is averaging 14.8 points per game and a team-high 9.2 rebounds. Goodwin joins Jones, freshman guard Erika Morrow and sophomore guard Nicole Michael by averaging over 10 points per game. Jones is averaging 13.8, while Nicole is posting 12.0 and Morrow is averaging 11.6.
Louisiana-Monroe ended the first half against Alabama State on a 35-6 run en route to a 68-55 victory. Junior Lottie Moore led the Warhawks with 15 points, while sophomore Jessie Carrier added 11, all of which came in the first half.
