
Orange Sport Spotlight - Feb. 12

Six Syracuse teams competed during the week of Feb. 5 to 11 with many highlights throughout the week. Records were broken on the basketball court, the Orange entered the national rankings in tennis, swimming & diving and track & field prepares for this weekend's BIG EAST Championship and softball competed on the diamond for the first time this season.
Swimming & Diving
The Syracuse swimming and diving teams wrapped up the regular season, hosting the Syracuse Invitational on Saturday. The Orange are back in action on Wednesday, competing at the BIG EAST Championship.

Tennis
The Orange tennis team had a week of highlights. Syracuse enetered the collegiate rankings for the first time since 2001, coming in at #75. Head coach Luke Jenson coached his first home match of the year on Friday against Buffalo.

Track & Field
The Syracuse track and field teams competed at Binghamton in a tri-meet on Friday. The Orange recorded 12 victories and five individuals qualified for the IC4A/ECAC Championship. The track and field teams next compete at the BIG EAST Championship, which begins on Saturday in Akron, Ohio.

Men's Basketball (17-8, 6-5 BIG EAST)
The men's basketball team split a pair of games last week, losing to Connecticut and then defeating St. John's. Against the Red Storm, senior Demetris Nichols recorded a career-best 37 points. His 37 points are the most scored by an SU student-athlete in a BIG EAST contest.

The women's basketball team lost to No. 17/16 Louisville on Saturday. Freshman Nicole Michael became the 14th player in school history to record at least 400 points in a single season.
