SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Gaddy Fortune (Long Branch, N.J.) is among the elite players in women’s lacrosse and is a preseason candidate for the Tewaaraton Award. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top player.
Fortune led the Orange with 47 goals in 2006, the second-highest total in school history. For her efforts she was named to the All-American Third Team, becoming the ninth player in school history to garner All-America accolades. She was also named to the All-Northeast First Team and earned unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
A unanimous preseason All-BIG EAST selection, Fortune finished 2006 with 50 points, which ranks 10th in school history. She scored at least one goal in every game last season, becoming the second player in school history to accomplish the feat. She also tallied at least two goals in 14-of-16 games during her junior season.
