Tilford Named Scholar-Athlete of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior Rachel Tilford, an outfielder on the Orange softball team, has been honored as the Syracuse University Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week of February 5.
Tilford, who hails from Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star and a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll last season, her first with the Orange. Tilford played her freshman year at Galveston College in Texas, where she was a NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete. She is majoring in chemical engineering.
The Orange opens the 2007 season this weekend at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona. Syracuse takes on #3 UCLA and #5 Arizona State on Friday.
