The 2007 Orange football squad held its first day of Spring practice on Wednesday. Third-year head coach Greg Robinson said he liked what he saw from the entire team.
"I really felt the enthusiasm," Robinson said. "I am pleased to see that the coaches and the players maintained the energy throughout practice. I saw good focus, for the most part. I am pleased with the coaching staff and the players with how they worked together for a good practice."
Robinson agenda for the first day of Spring ball included watching sophomore quarterbacks Andrew Robinson and Cameron Dantley, the offensive line, which has four players with returning experience and seven young players trying to work their way into the lineup, the cornerbacks, who are vying to fill two vacated starting positions, and the linebacking unit, which has three starters to replace.
"I liked the way the offensive line attacked the line of scrimmage," Robinson said. "I liked their tempo."
Andrew Robinson came out of his first practice in which he was the first quarterback through the drills upbeat about the day.
"It felt great," Robinson said. "Everything was on point. It feels like we are in the middle of Fall camp. This is a real good opportunityh for me. Obviously I have to work hard and compete."
The Orange will be back on the field on Friday, March 23. The annual Spring game is Saturday, April 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the Carrier Dome. Admission is free.
