
Watkins To Play In Portsmouth Invitational April 4-7

Syracuse senior center Darryl Watkins is participating in the 2007 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, Paril 4-7, in Portsmouth, Va. The games will be played at the Chuchland High School Gym.
Watkins averaged 8.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game for the Orange in his final season. He accumulated 112 rejections, the highest single-season total by an SU senior in program history. He completed his career ranked fifth in career blocks (263) and with two spots (fourth, seventh) on the single-season ledger at Syracuse. Watkins ranked seventh among NCAA Division I performers in blocked-shot average.
Watkins is on a team that also includes North Carolina's Rayshawn Terry, J.R. Reynolds of Virginia, Brandon Wallace from South Carolina, Purdue's David Teague, Creighton's Nate Funk, Trey Johnson of Jackson State and Stephane Lazme from Massachusetts.
The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament is in its 55th year.
