Orange Sport Spotlight - March 5

Eight Syracuse teams competed during the week of Feb. 26 - March 4. The Orange posted victories on the lacrosse field, softball field and basketball court and also won championships in the pool and on the track.
Women's Lacrosse (1-2, 0-0 BIG EAST)
The 15th-ranked women's lacrosse team split a pair of games last week, defeating Albany, 19-6, before losing to No. 9 Virginia, 10-8.

Alida DiPlacido won the zone title in the 3-meter dive and will participate at the NCAA Championship in the event, beginning on Thursday.

The Orange split a pair of matches last weekend, losing to Marquette, 4-3, and defeating Brown, 4-3. Senior Ashley Lipton moved into sole possession of eighth place with 137 career victories.

The Syracuse track and field teams competed at the IC4A and ECAC Championship last week. Sophomore Michael LeBlanc won the 55m dash title and freshman Maegan Krifchin took home the 1,000m title.

Men's Basketball (21-9, 10-6 BIG EAST)
The men's basketball team split a pair of games last week, defeating No. 9/10 Georgetown, 72-58, before losing to Villanova, 78-75. Demetris Nichols, Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris each earned All-BIG EAST honors.

Women's Basketball (9-20, 3-13 BIG EAST)
The women's basketball team lost to Cincinnati last week. Against the Bearcats, Nicole Michael set the single-season record for points, becoming the first player in school history to eclipse the 500-point plateau. Michael also earned All-BIG EAST accolades at the year-end's banquet.
