SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Orange men's soccer team will play its only home exhibition match of the spring on Sunday, April 22 when it hosts G.S. United at 2:00 p.m. in the SU Soccer Stadium. G.S. United was the 2005 Canadian National Soccer Champions, and also won the Ontario Cup and the Ontario Soccer League that season. Admission for Sunday's match is free.
Syracuse returns 89 percent of its goals scorers from 2006, including rising sophomore Hansen Woodruff. Woodruff led the Orange with seven goals a year ago, including four game-winners. Kyle Hall, who led SU with four assists in 2006, is also back in the mix.
On defense, three-time Defensive MVP Brad Peetoom anchors SU's back four and rising junior Robert Cavicchia will handle the goalkeeping duties. Cavicchia posted shutouts in three of the Orange's final five games last season and he tied DePaul's Brian Visser for the most saves against conference opponents (60).
