Philadelphia, Pa. – The Orange track & field team continued its strong play at the Penn Relays with eight SU student-athletes qualifying for the IC4A/ECAC Championship, including two who qualified for the NCAA Regional.
Philadelphia, Pa. – The Orange track & field team continued its strong play at the Penn Relays with eight SU student-athletes qualifying for the IC4A/ECAC Championship, including two who qualified for the NCAA Regional.
The day was highlighted by the men’s 100m dash competition and the women’s high jump. In the men’s 100m dash, sophomore Michael LeBlanc recorded the top time in the prelims, earning an invitation to the NCAA Regional, while senior Aulton Kohn came in 12th with an IC4A-qualifying time of 10.72. LeBlanc placed fourth in the final with a mark of 10.54.
In the women’s high jump competition, junior Jillian Drouin posted a NCAA-qualifying height. Drouin won the event with a mark of 1.75m.
Seniors David Wishart and Matt Lawson both posted IC4A-qualifying marks in the 10,000m. Wishart placed 12th with a time of 30:38.66 and Lawson finished in 13th place with 30:39.42. Senior Dan Pribula joined the list of SU student-athletes to qualify for the IC4A Championship, placing fourth in the shot put with a distance of 16.47m. Senior Kyra James also finished fourth in shot put competition with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 13.88m.
In addition, sophomore Nana Sang-Bender earned an ECAC invitation, recording a time of 16:52.61 for a sixth-place finish in the 5,000m run.
Syracuse is back in action on April 28 for the final day of competition in the Penn Relays.
