Cornerback Tanard Jackson is now a member of the National Football League's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The three-year starter for the Orange was the 106th overall selection in the 2007 NFL Draft. Jackson, who played for the North squad in the 2007 Senior Bowl, started his final 23 games for the Orange. In his senior season he recorded 57 tackles, including 45 solo and 4.5 for a loss of yards. He also had two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Jackson posted 160 tackles, had five interceptions and three fumble recoveries during his Syracuse career.
Jackson is the sixth player with Syracuse ties to join the Tampa Bay organization. Wide receiver Darryl Daniel, linebacker Stan Gibbs, safety Markus Paul, quarterback Todd Philcox and tight end Roland Williams also played for the Buccaneers. Jackson is one of 32 former Orange standouts who are currently in the NFL. His selection marks the 32nd consecutive year that a Syracuse player has been selected in the NFL's annual draft.
