"I think that Desmond and Randy have dynamic capabilities and that they can touch a lot of areas with a passion and enthusiasm," Robinson said. "I know that Randy is passionate about what he does, just as I think that Desmond is passionate about the job he is jumping into right now. That is really what I am excited about. We have a lot of dynamic people on our staff who are going to do a real fine job coaching our football team in every way.”
Desmond Robinson is familiar with aministrative responsibilities, having been the recruiting coordinator at Connecticut and the head coach and associate director of admissions at Westminster School.
“I'm excited because I care about Syracuse football and I've grown to love this place a great deal," Robinson said. "I say I have grown to love it because when I came here I liked Syracuse football, and there’s a difference between like and love. I have a strong love for it. I'm excited for that reason and because it gives me an opportunity now to go out and do some different things. Any time you get the opportunity to make a change it's kind of energizing. I am looking forward to trying to have an impact on the program from an administrative standpoint.”
Trivers is a highly decorated coach and educator. He has spent the last nine seasons taking the Northwest High School (Germantown, Md.) football program from its infancy to a perennial power. The first and only head coach in Northwest High School history, Trivers led the team to immediate success. In the program’s second season, the Jaguars won the Montgomery County 2A Division Championship and advanced to the state quarterfinals in 1999. In 2004, Trivers guided Northwest to a 13-1 record and the 3A state championship and was named the Maryland Associated Press Coach of the Year.
"Moving from Northwest High School to Syracuse University is not necessarily an easy thing for me because of the quality of people who I was able to establish fantastic relationships and memories with (at Northwest). However, in coming here it became very clear to me that this is a very special place," Trivers said. "Unquestionably, the football tradition here at Syracuse is outstanding. The tradition at the position that I’ll be coaching is second to none. Most importantly for me was the opportunity to work with people like Coach Robinson and his staff. His track record speaks for itself. His coaching staff is comprised of a group of outstanding people and I think that is what wins on the football field and in life. I am looking forward to being a part of Syracuse University and great football tradition here at Syracuse.”
