Fans Invited for a Preview of the 2007 Orange

The football Orange open the 2007 season against Washington Friday, August 31 (8:00 p.m., ESPN) but fans can join in the excitement 11 days earlier by attending an evening of fun and entertainment at Fanfest on Monday, August 20. Fans are invited to watch football practice and enjoy other activities for the whole family, including an autograph session at the end of practice. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the football team will take the field at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.

"My first day at Syracuse, I went over to the Dome and met (men's basketball coach) Jim Boeheim," said Orange head coach Greg Robinson. "The first thing Jim told me, he said Greg, 'I've been here 28 years as the head coach and I've played here and coached here as an assistant. I want you to know something: this is a football school with a fine basketball team.' And I looked at him and said, 'I like to hear that.' And he meant it. There is excitement in the year because it's August and it's almost football season. I think people are fired up. Fanfest is an opportunity for the team and the community to join together as a kickoff to the start of the season."

The event at the Les Vielbig Track (next to Coyne Field and the Schwartzwalder and Katz football practice fields) will include inflatable games for kids, retail tables featuring Syracuse merchandise and food will be available for purchase.

In the event of inclement weather, practice will be moved to the Dome. Please check suathletics.com for any changes on August 20.
