
Orange Announces 2007-08 BIG EAST Schedule

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Second-year head coach Quentin Hillsman announced the 2007-08 Syracuse women’s basketball BIG EAST schedule today, featuring 16 games against BIG EAST Opponents, including eight teams that advanced to last year’s NCAA Tournament.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Second-year head coach Quentin Hillsman announced the 2007-08 Syracuse women’s basketball BIG EAST schedule today, featuring 16 games against BIG EAST Opponents, including eight teams that advanced to last year’s NCAA Tournament.
Syracuse begins its BIG EAST schedule with two teams that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Orange welcomes the University of Louisville for its first conference game on Saturday, January 5th at 1 p.m., and then travels to the University of Pittsburgh on Wednesday, January 9th for a 7 p.m. match-up.
The Orange stays on the road to take on the University of South Florida on Saturday, January 12th at 7 p.m. USF also saw postseason play last year by advancing to the N.I.T. quarterfinals. Syracuse then returns home to face Connecticut, a team that reached the NCAA regional final last year. The Huskies and the Orange meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15th.
Syracuse takes on Villanova on the road on Saturday, January 19th at 2 p.m. The Orange has a week long break before meeting St. John’s at home for a 1 p.m. match-up on Saturday, January 26th. Syracuse then travels to DePaul for a 1 p.m. contest on Tuesday, January 29th. DePaul made an appearance in last year’s first round of the NCAA Tournament. The next stop for the Orange is in Georgetown on Saturday, February 2nd for a 3 p.m. game with the Hoyas.
Syracuse comes home to face Marquette on Sunday, February 10th at 1 p.m. Marquette also advanced to the second round of last year’s NCAA Tournament. The Orange then travels to Seton Hall on Wednesday, February 13th, taking on a Pirate team that appeared in the second round of the N.I.T Tournament; game time is at 7 p.m.
The Orange faces the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame at home on Saturday, February 16th for a 7 p.m. match-up. Last year Notre Dame reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Next stop on the Orange’s schedule is on Tuesday, February 19th when Syracuse travels to Providence; game time is not yet announced.
The Orange comes back to Syracuse for two home games. The first match-up is with Cincinnati on Saturday, February 23rd at 1 p.m., and the second is against Georgetown on Tuesday, February 26th at 7 p.m.
Syracuse travels again on March 1st to take on a Rutgers team that advanced to last year’s NCAA Tournament Championship game. The game time has not yet been announced. Rounding out the Orange’s BIG EAST schedule is a home game against West Virginia on Monday, March 3rd at 7 p.m. The Mountaineers also appeared in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
All BIG EAST home games will be played in the Carrier Dome. Game times are tentative and subject to change. The top 12 BIG EAST teams will qualify for the 2008 BIG EAST Tournament, to be held March 8-11 at the Hartford (CT) Civic Center.
The Orange previously released its non-conference schedule on SUAthletics.com. The 13-game non-league schedule features a Final Four contested from 2007, two tournaments and six home games, four of which will be played at the Carrier Dome.
