Syracuse-Iowa Series
In three all-time meetings, Iowa owns a 2-1 advantage against the Orange. The series originated in 1975 with a 10-7 Syracuse win. Iowa evened the series one year later with a 41-3 victory. After a 30-year hiatus, the two teams meet in a double-overtime thriller in 2006. The Hawkeyes prevailed 20-13 and took the series lead.
Spreading the Wealth
Sophomore quarterback Andrew Robinson used all of his receiving weapons in his first career start against Washington. Robinson completed 20 passes to 10 different receivers. Junior All-America candidate Taj Smith was Robinson's favorite target, matching his career best with five receptions. Junior running back Curtis Brinkley recorded a personal-best 63 receiving yards on four catches. Sophomore tight end Mike Owen and second-year receiver Mike Williams also had multiple receptions against the Huskies. Owen's two catches represented the first of his career. The last time the Orange had 10 players with at least one reception was in the 2005 season finale at Louisville. In 2006, Syracuse never had more than eight different receivers (vs. Pittsburgh) catch passes in one game.
