PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the first time in program history, Syracuse field hockey is ranked No. 1 in the nation according to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll. SU field hockey is the first women’s team at Syracuse to ever reach No. 1 in a national poll. The Orange remains the only undefeated team in Division I field hockey at 14-0 overall and 3-0 in the BIG EAST Conference.
In addition, the Orange received the most first-place votes with 34. Last week, SU went 2-0 with wins against Georgetown (16-0) on October 10 and No. 20 American (3-1) on October 12. Syracuse’s performance against Georgetown broke three BIG EAST regular season conference records. The Orange set a conference record for the most goals by one team (16), most assists by one team (11) and most points by one team (43).
