SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University volleyball team continued its eight-game road win streak Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 victory against Marquette. The Orange won the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-21, and the fifth set for the win, 15-12. Syracuse is 13-9 overall and 5-1 in BIG EAST conference play.

The Orange had three players in double-digits kills. Freshman Noemie Lefebvre tallied 15, junior Kacie MacTavish posted 13 and junior Sarah Morton contributed 10. Senior April Quigley was the primary setter for the Orange with 41 assists.

Defensively, the Orange was led by Quigley with seven total blocks. Morton followed suit with six total blocks, while senior Brittany Kern and MacTavish each had five total blocks. Senior Marissa Kanemura led the team in digs with 15. MacTavish and Lefebvre had 12 and 11 digs, respectively. The Orange outblocked the Golden Eagles 16-8.

Syracuse dominated the first set as the Orange jumped out to a 19-10 lead, forcing the Golden Eagles to call a timeout to gather themselves. Syracuse was undaunted by the break as the Orange played Marquette to a six-six draw in the next 12 points to secure the first set.

The second set was a bit more of a challenge for SU. Marquette and Syracuse traded points to a 14-14 standstill, but the Orange ran off four consecutive points and did not look back from there. The offensive attack forced Marquette's hand to make a few errors, eventually surrendering game two to the Orange.

Marquette battled back in games three and four, but the Orange persevered in the final set, 15-12. Each team swapped points to a 4-4 stalemate, but Syracuse ran away with the next five tallies. SU held strong though the remainder of the set to win keep its road-momentum intact.

Syracuse looks to avenge its 3-0 loss at home to Siena on Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Loudonville, N.Y. The Orange will return home for a BIG EAST weekend stint on Friday, Oct. 24 and Sunday. Oct. 26. The women's volleyball team will commence play at the Women's Building starting on Friday's contest against Cincinnati and continue on Sunday versus Louisville.
