SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse and Mercyhurst matchup again on Saturday, November 15, at the Tennity Ice Pavilion. Last night, the Syracuse ice hockey team had its three-game win streak snapped at the hands of Mercyhurst, 4-1, last night at the Onondaga County War Memorial. Friday night's contest marked the first time Syracuse University had been featured at the home of the AHL's Syracuse Crunch.
Freshman Megan Skelly (Taber, Alberta) notched her team-leading sixth goal of the season thanks to first-year skater Lisa Mullan's (Victoria, British Columbia) team-leading eight assist to establish an early 1-0 lead last night, but the Lakers came on strong to take control of the contest around the midway point of the second game.
Junior netminder Lucy Schoedel (Ithaca, N.Y.) tied her career-high with 41 saves in the contest. Schoedel made numerous crowd-rousing stops in the first period to safeguard the Orange's lead. Syracuse's goaltender faced 45 Lakers' shots on Friday night.
Syracuse seeks its first conference win in the rematch at Tennity Ice Pavilion at 2 p.m. today.
