SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Jillian Drouin’s first-place performance in the women’s pentathlon paced four members of the Orange in the event’s top four finishes on Friday night at Manley Field House. Drouin claimed the crown with 3,862 total points.

Sophomore Uhunoma Osazuwa placed second in the pentathlon standings with 3,699 points. Senior Kaity Lambracht (3,602) finished third and junior Kayla Carter (3,216) placed fourth.
Drouin boasted a BIG EAST and ECAC-qualifying performance in the high jump, posting a height of 1.76m. Osazuwa finished second in the event, qualifying for the conference finals with a height of 1.67m. Osazuwa (8.20) and Drouin (8.24) finished one – two, respectively, in the 55m hurdles en route to ECAC-qualifying performances.
Lambracht qualified for the long jump with a first-place finish and distance of 5.55m. Drouin led all performers with a first-place tally of 12.10m in the shot put. Osazuwa paced the field in the 800m run, finishing first with a time of 2:32.70.
The men’s heptathlon began Friday night with four events and will be completed on Saturday. Sophomore Jon Buice paced the field in the 55m dash with a time of 6.65 and matched a personal-best with a BIG EAST-qualifying height of 2.00m in the high jump.
Buice and junior Eric Cleckner qualified for the conference championship with leaps of 6.68m and 6.62m, respectively, in the long jump. Junior Mike Chitro led the Orange in the shot put, tallying a team-best mark of 11.70m.
The men’s heptathlon will resume with the 55m hurdles at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The Syracuse Invitational welcomes 13 teams to Manley Field House on Saturday and is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the field events.
