SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Senior forward Fantasia Goodwin is averaging a team-leading 9.7 boards per outing - a mark she will try and improve on as the No. 21/23 Orange travels to Seton Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 13 for a 7 p.m. contest. Syracuse has enjoyed success on the road this season, going 8-3, to help its overall mark of 18-4 and 6-3 in the BIG EAST. The Pirates are facing a ranked opponent for the fourth straight outing and stand with a record of 13-9 and 3-7 in the conference.
Orange fanatics can follow the game on WTLA 1200/1440 AM and suathletics.com via Orange All Access with Brian Higgins calling the action. WJPZ 89.1 FM will also provide its own broadcast. Live video and stats of the game are available by clicking here.
Goodwin set the SU rebounding standard by pulling down 25 boards in 30 minutes in the Orange's 81-35 win against Saint Peter's on Dec. 22. The Hastings, N.Y. native is a good reason why the Orange is 18-0 when winning the rebounding battle and second in the BIG EAST in rebounding, rebounding margin and defensive rebounds.
Goodwin has also been a major contributor on the offensive end with 12.7 points per game. She had reached double-digits in scoring 14 times, including eight, 20-plus games, and has led the team in scoring four times.
The Orange is also creating havoc by forcing its opponents to turn the ball over more than 20 times on nine different occasions. The defense has caused 386 turnovers this season, an average of 17.5 per contest.
Syracuse is coming off a 70-67 victory against Marquette on Sunday, Feb. 10 in front of a Carrier Dome crowd of 3,552 – the third largest in SU history. Freshman guard Erica Morrow registered a career-high 24 points en route to being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
The Brooklyn, N.Y. native is averaging 12.0 points and a team-best 3.9 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Freshman guard Tasha Harris is also having a great season dishing the ball. She is averaging 3.4 assists per contest – second don the team. Harris has started every game and is averaging 3.1 points.
Seton Hall has lost four consecutive games with losses to St. John's West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Connecticut. Freshman guard Ebonie Williams and senior forward Noteisha Womack lead the Pirates in scoring at 10.7 and 10.5 points, respectively. Womack also averages a team-best 11.0 rebounds per game.
