SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A limited number of full-session tickets for the 2008 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Championship Presented by Aéropostale are on sale as of February 14, 2008. Tickets may be purchased at the Carrier Dome Box Office or by calling the Box Office at 1-888-DOMETIX. Package tickets for admission to all 11 games of the championship are priced at $ 105 each .
The BIG EAST Women's Basketball 12-team Championship returns to the XL Center (formerly the Hartford Civic Center) for the fifth straight year. Hartford has embraced the annual event with the first four years resulting in unparalleled success for the Conference by leading all leagues in average attendance.
Syracuse is currently tied for fifth in the BIG EAST with a 7-3 mark in the league. The Orange is ranked 21st in the Associated Press and holds a program-best 19-4 mark after 23 games. The 19 wins are the most are the most since the 1987-88 season.
The 2007 BIG EAST Championship marked the 25th year of the women’s basketball conference tournament. Rutgers won its first BIG EAST Championship title after reaching the title game four previous times. After losing twice to Connecticut during the regular season, the second-seeded Scarlet Knights beat the top-seeded Huskies 55-47.
All 11 of the 2008 BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Championship games will be televised for the second straight year. The first round games on March 8 will be aired as part of the BIG EAST Regional Television Package, which is broadcast via Regional Sports Networks (RSN) in BIG EAST markets. SportsNet New York (SNY) is the flagship station for the BIG EAST RSN Game of the Week during the regular season and will carry all four first-round tournament games as well. The quarterfinals on March 9 and semifinals on March 10 will be shown live on ESPNU, while the championship game, on March 11, will appear on ESPN/ESPN2 for the 14th straight year.
