SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior attackman Mike Leveille (Delmar, N.Y.) has been selected by Paul Carcaterra as the Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in SU’s 8-7 win against Army Sunday, Feb. 24. Leveille scored six points, including four goals, to lead the Orange past the Black Knights.
Carcaterra, the former Syracuse All-American and CSTV analyst, selects an Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week each week for CSTV.com. In addition to Leveille’s Offensive Player of the Week nod, Carcaterra named John’s Hopkins goalie Mike Gvozden Defensive Player of the Week, and attackman Grant Catalino of Maryland this week’s Rookie of the Week.
All four of Leveille’s goals against Army came in the game’s final 19 minutes, including two 11 seconds apart in the fourth quarter that gave the Orange a three-goal lead it never relinquished.
Leveille has six goals and six assists in SU’s first two games (6.0 ppg) and owns the nation’s second-longest consecutive games with a point streak (41).
Syracuse returns to action on Saturday, March 1 when it meets Virginia in the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic. Game time is 12 p.m. at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
