Orange Field Hockey Recognized for Excellence in the Classroom

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - For the third consecutive year the Syracuse University’s field has been named as one of 48 NCAA Division I programs to earn the 2007 National Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for having a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and higher.
Additionally, eight Orange student-athletes were named to the 2006 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
Senior Gloria Nantulya was selected to the team for the fourth-consecutive year, while senior Jessica Lerew and sophomore Kasey Flohr make their second straight appearance on the team. Graduate student Leigh Fawcett, sophomore Lindsay Conrad and Tracy Deitrick and freshman Maggie Befort and Kristin Girouard all represented Syracuse on the national academic squad for the first time in their collegiate careers.
The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year.
