CARSON, Calif. – Syracuse junior forward Kyle Hall (Toronto, Ontario) scored a goal to help lead Canada past Guatemala, 5-0, in its final Group B match of the CONCACAF U-23 Olympic Qualifying Tournament on Sunday, March 15 at the Home Depot Center.
Hall’s goal came in the final minute and proved to be the tally that pushed the Canucks into the semifinals. Canada clinched Group B’s second semifinal berth on goal differential (+4 to +3) over Mexico.
Canada will face the United States in one semifinal at LP Field in Nashville, Tenn. on Thursday, March 20. Guatemala will meet Honduras in Thursday’s other semifinal match. The two winners will automatically qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and advance to the tournament’s championship round.
Hall, who tied for second on the Orange with four goals in 2007, appeared in all three matches for the Canucks in round-robin group play.
