SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The No. 6/5 Syracuse women’s lacrosse team goes for its fourth straight win when it hosts Towson on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. The Orange improved its record to 5-1 with a 16-13 overtime victory at Notre Dame on Sunday. Towson also enters the contest with an overall mark of 5-1. Fans can follow all of the action live on Orange All-Access, which provides live audio and video feeds as well as live stats. The game will also be broadcast live on WJPZ 89.1 FM in Syracuse. Admission is free.
SYRACUSE-TOWSON SERIES
The 2008 meeting is the third all-time between the Orange and Tigers. Syracuse holds a 2-0 advantage in the series. Last season the Orange defeated the Tigers, 18-10, in Towson. Katie Rowan had five goals to lead a balanced Syracuse attack as eight different players scored for the Orange. Towson started the game strong and held a 3-2 advantage before Rowan sparked a 5-0 run that gave Syracuse the lead for good. The Orange led 11-6 at the intermission and outscored Towson, 7-4, in the second half for the eight-goal victory. Hillary Fratzke led the Tigers with five goals.
QUICK STRIKING OFFENSE
Syracuse has scored first in each of its six games this season. The Orange registered its quickest goal of the campaign at Notre Dame when Katie Rowan scored the contest’s first goal 45 seconds into the game. It marked the third time this season SU has scored in the first minute.The Orange also found the back of the net in the first minute of action against Virginia (0:50) and Hofstra (0:53). Through six games, it’s taking Syracuse’s offense an average of 1:22 to score its first goal.
BRADY ADDS TO OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
After starting the season by recording five assists in the first three games, senior Kristin Brady has recorded hat tricks in two of her last three games. Brady tied her season high with five points on three goals and two assists against Binghamton. At Notre Dame, she had three goals, including one in overtime. Brady now has 10 goals on the season, including two on behind-the-back shots.
Brady posted a career-high three assists in Syracuse’s win against Dartmouth, and has seven this season. She is just two shy of tying her career high of nine that she set as a junior. Brady ranks second on the team and eighth in the BIG EAST in assists per game (1.17).
MOSENSON HITTING HER STRIDE
Junior Megan Mosenson has been in the starting lineup in the last three games and posted six goals and two assists, helping Syracuse to three wins. Against Binghamton, Mosenson had two goals and a career-high two assists. It marked the fourth time in her career that she has recorded four points. Mosenson had a hat trick against Hofstra, including a pair of goals in SU’s 9-0 scoring run in the second half. This season, Mosenson has eight goals and three assists. As a freshman, Mosenson had 13 goals and four assists in nine games before her season was cut short by a knee injury. Last season she played in 15 games, recording 10 goals and four assists.
Against Notre Dame, Mosenson took several of the draws in the second half. She has 10 draw controls this season, just five shy of her career high of 15 she set as a freshman.
