SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The No. 6/5 Syracuse women’s lacrosse team goes for its fifth –straight win when it hosts Connecticut on Saturday at noon in the Carrier Dome. The Orange enters the action with a record of 6-1 and a 1-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Huskies are 0-6 overall, 0-1 in the BIG EAST. The game can be heard live on WJPZ 89.1 FM in the Syracuse area and on Orange All-Access on suathletics.com.
The Orange women’s game is part of a doubleheader with the Syracuse men’s squad, which takes on Binghamton at 3:30 p.m. Admission to the women’s game is $5 through halftime. Following halftime, admission will be $8, the price of a men’s lacrosse adult ticket.
ORANGE IN THE BIG EAST
Syracuse is 1-0 in the BIG EAST for the first time in school history. The Orange defeated Notre Dame, 16-13, in overtime in its conference opener. Syracuse has an all-time record of 28-12 in league games. Going back to last season, the Orange has won four-consecutive regular-season BIG EAST games and six straight against league opponents. After starting 0-1 in the conference in 2007, Syracuse reeled off four straight regular-season wins and then posted two victories in the conference tournament. The Orange won a share of the BIG EAST regular-season title last season and won the inaugural conference tournament.
SYRACUSE-CONNECTICUT SERIES
The 2008 meeting is the 11th all-time between the Orange and Huskies. Syracuse holds a 10-0 advantage in the series.
Last season Kristin Brady scored three key goals to help lead the 11th-ranked Orange to victory against No. 20 Connecticut, 18-16, in overtime. Brady scored a goal late in regulation to send the game into overtime and then added two goals during the first overtime session. Halley Quillinan led the Orange with four goals. Brady, Katie Rowan and Christina Dove each tallied a hat trick.

Today’s game is the 11th meeting between the two schools ... The win against Towson was the 112th in the history of the Syracuse program ... The Orange has an all-time record of 68-17 in the Carrier Dome ... Connecticut lost its BIG EAST opener at Loyola, 21-15 ...
