
Fifth-Ranked Syracuse Goes for Win No. 10 at Albany on Wednesday

ALBANY, N.Y. – The No. 5/5 Syracuse women’s lacrosse team looks for its second-straight win and its 10th of the season on Wednesday when it travels to Albany to take on the Great Danes at 4 p.m. The Orange defeated Cincinnati on Sunday to improve its record to 8-2. Albany enters the contest with a mark of 7-3. Fans can listen to the live broadcast of the game on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area and on Orange All-Access.
A LOOK AT TODAY'S GAME
Today’s game is the sixth meeting between the two schools ... The win at Cincinnati was the 114th in the history of the Syracuse program ... Today’s game will be the fourth against an opponent from New York State ... Today’s game is Albany’s third against a ranked opponent this season ... Today’s game is the second in a stretch for Syracuse where it plays five of seven games on the road to end the regular season. The Orange is 2-1 away from the Carrier Dome this season. The only loss came to Virginia, ranked No. 2 at the time, in Charlottesville.
DOVE JOINS CENTURY CLUB
Sophomore Christina Dove joined an elite club when she recorded her 100th career point in the Orange’s victory at Cincinnati. Dove had three points against the Bearcats, giving her 102 in her career. She becomes just the 10th player in school history to score 100 career points. Dove ranks 10th on the all-time scoring list. She needs just seven points to pass Jenna Szyluk (1998-2001) for ninth place.
Dove earned the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week award for her performance in SU’s victories against Towson and Connecticut. She scored a career-best six goals in Syracuse’s 22-5 win against Towson. She followed that performance with a career-high seven points on five goals and two assists in the Orange’s 24-4 victory against Connecticut.
NEW YORK STATE OF MIND
The Orange has dominated play against schools from New York State since its arrival on the women’s lacrosse scene. After Syracuse’s 21-10 victory against Hofstra, the Orange owns a 28-5 all-time record against in-state schools (.848 winning percentage) with all five losses coming to Cornell. Syracuse has never lost to a school from New York at the Carrier Dome, winning all 21 games.
