SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Top-ranked Syracuse (10-1) returns home after a two-game road trip to host Empire State rival Albany (5-6) on Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m. The contest is the only night game at the Dome this season and the Orange carries an eight-game winning streak and six-game home victory streak into the contest. The Orange is ranked No. 1 in the USILA Coaches Poll for the third consecutive week.
Orange fans follow the action on the Syracuse Radio Network. Brian Higgins and Kyle Fetterly will have the call on TK-99.5 FM. Live streaming video and audio of the contest can also be found on SUathletics.com via Orange All Access. The game will also be televised live in the Syracuse area on Time Warner 26.
Friday’s game has special meaning for senior captain
Mike Leveille, who grew up in Delmar, N.Y., a suburb of Albany. Leveille has often played his best against his hometown school. He has 17 points in three career games againt the Great Danes. In last year’s meeting, Leveille tied his career high with five goals to help lead SU to victory.CAN TABS TO BE PRESENTED AT HALFTIME
At halftime of Albany game, a collection of can tabs will be presented by the lacrosse program to the Ronald McDonald House to benefit underprivileged kids. Back in January, the team and the Syner-Cuse student marketing group from the University’s sports management program teamed up to begin collecting the aluminum tabs. The team placed collection boxes at Gate B of the Dome for each home game as well as University dining halls, cafés, various campus office buildings, and in many of the stores on Marshall Street. The boxes will be picked up on Thursday, April 17.
The local Ronald McDonald House Chapter will bring the tabs to local recycling centers where they will be weighed to determine their value. The recycling center then sends the chapter a check for the total value of the collected tabs. One pound of tabs is worth 57 cents, and one gallon of tabs (4,175 tabs) is worth $1.49. To date, more than 400 million tabs have been collected, generating more than $4 million.
