4/18/2008 2:59:28 PM | Football
The 2008 Orange will host the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 19 at the Carrier Dome. The football intra-squad scrimmage begins at 2:00 p.m. Prior to the game fans are invited to enjoy a concert by Columbia recording artist Luna Halo beginning at 1:15 p.m. The Carrier Dome gates will open at 12:45 p.m. Admission to the entire event is free and parking will be available in the stadium west lots at no charge. Fans are invited to enter the Dome through all lower level gates (A, B, C, D, E, F).
The scrimmage will feature the Syracuse offense against the Syracuse defense. The winner will be determined based on a modified scoring system that awards points to the offense and defense for, among other things, explosive plays on offense (rushes of 12+ yards; completions of 16+ yards), two first downs in a series (1 point), a turnover created by the defense (1 point), and quarterback sacks (1 point). The scoring system is intended to keep the game competitive to the end and fun for fans to try and keep up with the system (scoring system, PDF format).
During the Spring Game, TK99 morning hosts Gomez and Dave will serve as honorary assistant coaches and will talk throughout the game with fans. Every person in attendance will have an opportunity to register for a chance to participate in a $10,000 field goal kick. Fans can sign up for the field goal kick at the Carrier Dome prior to the game at the marketing table at Gate B. There will also be a $10,000 football toss contest for pre-registered fans. In addition to the kicking and throwing contests, fans will have an opportunity to participate in many other fun contests for a chance to win great prizes. After the game, the 2008 Orange will host an autograph session.
