Women’s Rowing Competes at Boston Challenge

BOSTON – The Syracuse women’s rowing competed today at the Charles River Challenge. The Orange raced against No. 13 Harvard, Dartmouth and Texas in the morning races, followed by afternoon races with Gonzaga, Texas, Boston University and No. 19 Northeastern.

The varsity eight boat of Kate Todd (coxswain), Ally Doodeman (stroke), Natalie Mastracci (7 seat), Erica Mahon (6 seat), Liz Henwood (5 seat), Kaitlin Grant (4 seat), Rachael Ogundiran (3 seat), Lindsay Lentini (2 seat) and Jess Tacinelli (bow) finished third in the morning and second in the afternoon with times of 6:32.30 and 6:35.76, respectively.

The second varsity eight boat of Tina Campagna (coxswain), Maura Helmer (stroke), Ildiko Toth (7 seat), Sarah Stapp (6 seat), Ashley Tabor (5 seat), Heidi Bulk (4 seat), Christine Turner (3 seat), Theresa Allessio (2 seat) and Christine DePompeo (bow) finished fourth in the morning with a time of 6:57.00 and third in the afternoon with a time 6:57.70.

The varsity four boat of Lydia Wong (coxswain), Mandy DeHaven (stroke), Anne Van Houten (3 seat), Susan Groff/ Brittany Jock (2 seat) and Zaula Usman (bow) raced four times, finishing third in the morning with times of 7:43.55 and 7:53.30 and second and third in the afternoon with time of 8:07.00 and 7:53.30.

The novice eight boat of Catherine Wilcox (coxswain), Jacque Lee (stroke), Julia Ruskin (7 seat), Allison Ehrke (6 seat), Mary Ellen Anderson (5 seat), Ali Sayer (4 seat), Laura Murphy (3 seat), Brandis Arcadia (2 seat) and Kelsey Wiemer (bow) finished fourth in the both races with times f 7:11.50 and 7:15.80.

The novice four boat of Mikela Almeida (coxswain), Alex Pines (stroke), Melody Miller (3 seat), Victoria Batha (2 seat) and Jess Arevalo (bow) finished fourth in the morning with a time of 8:15.13 and second in the afternoon with a time of 07:52.6.

The Orange returns to the water on Sunday, April 27 at the BIG EAST Championship in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
