The Orange's 7-7 conference record places them in eighth place, the final playoff spot, while the Pirate are two spots back in 10th with a 4-12 mark.

At home his season, the Orange boasts a 6-2 record, including a 4-2 conference mark. Junior catcher Amy Kelley is batting .435 during home games with a .739 slugging percentage, a .519 on-base percentage, 10 RBI and 10 hits, including four doubles. Freshman utility player Tawni Irvine owns a .333 average at the SU Softball Stadium and a .473 on-base percentage.
The pitchers have combined for a 1.62 ERA with sophomore ace Brittany Gardner leading the way with a 0.64 mark, 35 strikeouts and a 4-1 record at home. Senior Chanel Roehner has a 1.71 ERA and a 2-1 record.
Overall Kelley continues to lead the Orange with a .381 batting average. Her .661 slugging percentage is tops in the conference and she is tied for the BIG EAST lead with eight long balls. Junior shortstop Jamie Kelling is second on the team with a .309 average and 43 hits.
Last time out, senior outfielder Rachel Tilford ended game one against St. John’s in dramatic fashion with a solo, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Orange a 1-0 victory on Friday. Syracuse followed with a 2-1 victory during game two for its third BIG EAST sweep of the season.
The Orange received phenomenal pitching Roehner and Gardner. The duo combined for 17 strikeouts, the most during a two game span this season. Roehner whiffed a career-high 10 batters during game one for her 10th complete game and third shutout of the season. Gardner also went the distance – her team-high 12th complete game – and struck out seven.
Seton Hall is coming off a pair of loss, 5-4 and 5-2, at Pittsburgh on Saturday to extend its losing streak to five games.
Kealan Waldron leads the Pirates with a .339 batting average, 43 hits, 27 RBI and a .535 slugging percentage. Jenna Best is also batting above .300 with a .304 average. She has registered a team-high .438 on-base percentage, while Leah Menichetti is tied with Waldron with a team-leading 23 runs scored. Ashley Forsyth has made a team-high 25 appearances in the circle, posting a 10-13 record and a 2.46 ERA. She leads the team with 83 strikeouts.
In a series that dates back to 2000, the Pirates hold an 11-7 advantage, but have lost five of the last eight. Last season the two teams split at Seton hall. Roehner paced the Orange by going a combined 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run. Gardner earned the victory by pitching 4.2 innings and allowing four hits during the second contest.
