
Two Incoming SU Rowers Named to U.S. Junior National Team

SYRACUSE, N.Y . – Syracuse incoming freshmen rowers Chris Lutz and Kynan Reelick have been named to the United States Junior National Team and are competing at the World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria. Lutz is competing in the Junior Men’s 4 with coxswain and Reelick is representing the U.S. in the Junior Men’s Single (1x).
Lutz comes to Syracuse by way of Father Judge H.S. in Philadelpia and Reelick from Brookfield H.S. and GMS Rowing Center in Connecticut. Both oarsmen also made the 2007 U.S. Junior National Team that raced in Beijing. Lutz finished fifth in the Junior Men’s 8 and Reelick in the Junior Men’s Quad (4x).
Lutz also won the varsity four at the 2008 Philadelphia Catholic Championship and finished second in the varsity four at the Philadelphia City Championships. He won the intermediate eight and finished second in the senior eight at the 2007 USRowing Club National Championships. Lutz finished second in the four at the 2007 Scholastic National Championships and won the four at the 2007 Stotesbury Cup Regatta. He also won the four at the 2007 Philadelphia City Championships and the four at the 2007 Philadelphia Catholic Championships.
Reelick won a silver medal in the quadruple sculls at the 2008 New Zealand Secondary School Rowing
Championships and competed in the quadruple sculls at the 2007 Junior World Rowing Championships. He also finished third in the junior single sculls at the 2007 USRowing Club National Championship and won the quadruple sculls at the 2007 USRowing Junior National Team Trials.
