What was your ‘Welcome to college football moment?
It was probably meeting Chris Thorner for the first time on my official visit. I wasn't actually at school yet, but meeting him, yeah, he was a different dude.
What did it mean to you to have former SU standout and NFL fullback Kyle Johnson speak with the team yesterday?
He's a guy who has played before, so obviously it's someone you look up to. His story, you can learn a lot from him.
What is the most challenging part of playing defensive end?
Well, for me, since I had that knee injury, I'm always thinking about opposing people coming in at me from the side.
How do you feel the team is stacking up in camp as you pass the mid-way point?
I think the team's looking really good. We have a lot of young players out there right now, but they're learning their stuff, so I think we'll be alright.
Who in your life has given you the most valuable ‘life lesson’?
Definitely my Dad has, especially with him playing her and playing in the league. He's someone I've learned a lot from.
Five years after graduating from Syracuse I will be …
Hopefully still playing, but career-wise, I'd like to do something in the automotive industry maybe.
Advice to first-year teammates?
Get in the weight room is the best thing you can do. It's tough to learn because you don't really get all the reps as some of the older players, but getting strong definitely helps out for the next year.
How do you maintain your focus on training camp and not look ahead to the season-opener at Northwestern on August 30th?
They haven't installed anything specifically for Northwestern right now, so it kind of keeps you going on what you have to do. You're definitely thinking about it, though.
