SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of Week, freshman back Anne-Sophie Van der Post, was named to the womensfieldhockey.com Honor Roll for leading the Orange defense in a shutout win against No. 8 Old Dominion.
Van der Post anchored Syracuse’s defense that allowed only two shots (one on goal) in the Orange’s 5-0 win against No. 8 Old Dominion. ODU averaged 2.1 goals and 10.1 shots in 2007. Van de Post marked the Monarchs’ leading scorer from a year ago, Katie Ueberroth (9g, 5a).
The Orange makes its first appearance at home on Tuesday, September 2, when SU plays host to Colgate at 6:30 p.m. at J.S. Coyne Stadium. Syracuse’s most familiar foe, the Orange leads the all-time series 22-10 and has won the last five contests. SU has outscored the Raiders 27-7 during that span. The Orange is 13-3 all-time at home versus Colgate. Syracuse is 24-12 in home openers. Head coach Ange Bradley is 1-0 in home openers.
