LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 12 Louisville got goals from three different players and benefited from a Syracuse own goal to defeat the visiting Orange, 4-0, on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Cardinal Park.
Senior Hansen Woodruff paced the SU offense with three shots, including the Orange's only shot on goal of the match early in the first half. Classmate Tom Perevegyencev recorded SU's only other shot of the game in the 66th minute.
Orange redshirt freshman goalie Ryan Jones registered four saves in the contest. His counterpart, Andre Boudreaux, finished with one save in 90 minutes to record his eighth shutout of the season.
The Cardinals (8-1-2, 5-1-1) got on the board in the 15th minute on a Syracuse own goal and carried its 1-0 margin into the locker room at halftime.
The Louisville offense took control of the match in the second half as the hosts extended the margin to 2-0 on a goal by Freddie Braun in the 51st minute. Kenny Walker pushed the lead to three in 78th minute when he scored off a free kick, and Brent Rosendall closed the game's scoring when he found the back of the net off a cross by Buck Tufty with 2:54 to play.
Syracuse (2-10-0, 1-6-0) begins a three-game homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 13 when it hosts Central New York rival Hartwick at the SU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
