
SU Picked Sixth in BIG EAST Preseason Poll

NEW YORK, NY - Syracuse was picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST Conference according to the results of the league's preseason coaches' poll that was announced at media day on Wednesday. The Orange was also represented on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Conference Honorable Mention Team by senior center Arinze Onuaku.
SU head coach Jim Boeheim, Onuaku and senior guard Andy Rautins attended the conference's annual media day at Madison Square Garden along with representatives of the 15 other conference squads.
Villanova was named the favorite to claim the conference championship after receiving 10 first-place votes and 218 points in all. Notre Dame's Luke Harangody, was selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year, becoming the second play in conference history to earn Preseason Player of the Year honors more than once. Cincinnati's Lance Stephenson was named BIG EAST Preseason Rookie of the Year.
Joining Haragody on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team were: Deonta Vaughn (Cincinnati), Grego Monroe (Georgetown), Lazar Howard (Marquette), Scottie Reynolds (Villanova), Jerome Dyson (Connecticut), Kemba Walker (Connecticut), Samardo Samuels (Louisville), Jeremy Hazell (Seton Hall), Dominique Jones (USF) and Devin Ebanks (West Virginia). Connecticut's Stanley Robinson was also an honorable mention selection.
