SYRACUSE, NY – For the sixth straight season, the Syracuse men's basketball team will open its campaign with exhibition games against Division II foes. The Orange will host Cal State-Los Angeles on Sunday, October 25, at 2:00 p.m., and LeMoyne on Tuesday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m. Both exhibition games will be contested in the Carrier Dome.
Cal State-Los Angeles is coached by former Syracuse standout Stephen Thompson. The Golden Eagles were 12-15 a season ago and won two of their last three games. Thompson, who was an assistant with the program before his promotion to head coach, guided the squad to back-to-back 10-17 campaigns in his first two seasons before leading the team to one of its most successful seasons, 17-11, in 2008-09. Syracuse defeated Cal State-Los Angeles in a 2008 exhibition game, 77-56.
LeMoyne was 20-11 and advanced to the Northeast-10 title game last winter. It marked a five-game improvement over the previous campaign for the Dolphins. Syracuse defeated LeMoyne, 85-51, in the 2008-09 season opener as part of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.
