Last Time Out
Syracuse made history by becoming the first Orange team to begin the season 11-0 after its 67-46 defeat of Rider on Monday, December 28. Three SU players scored in double-figures, including junior guard Erica Morrow and sophomore guard Tyler Ash, who contributed 12 points each. Freshman guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas recorded her first career double-double with a career-high in points with 11 and rebounds with 13. She led all players with seven offensive boards, paired with a team-high two steals.
Rider's early 10-9 lead marked the first time the Orange trailed in a game since it was down 26-24 with 5:32 remaining in the first half against Butler on November 27. The Orange also overcame its first halftime deficit of the season, 31-28, and held the Broncs to just 15.4 percent (4-26) shooting in the second half.
SU Reaches Historic Milestone
Head coach Quentin Hillsman and his 11-0 Orange women are off to their best start in program history. The Orange went 10-1 in 2007-08 and 1978-79. The Orange men and women have never both been undefeated this late into the season. Syracuse is the only school in the country to have both unbeaten programs, and is only one of six undefeated teams remaining. Georgia (12-0), Nebraska (11-0), Wisconsin-Green Bay (11-0), Connecticut (11-0) and Notre Dame (10-0) join SU as the only unbeatens in the nation.
Orange Against the Wildcats
Syracuse and New Hampshire split the six-game series, 3-3, and have not met since the 1986-87 season, when UNH won, 72-62. The series dates back to 1980-81, when the Orange won a close game, 58-54.
