BALTIMORE, Md. – The Syracuse Orange held onto the No. 1 ranking in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) coaches poll, released Monday, Feb. 23. The Orange received all 11 first-place votes and totaled 220 points. Syracuse is 2-0 and defeated Army, 17-6, in its most recent outing.
Virginia is ranked second in the poll for the third consecutive week. The Cavaliers are 3-0 and earned 209 points in this week's rankings. North Carolina (179 points), Cornell (176 points) and Georgetown (175 points) rounded out the top five.
In addition, the Orange maintained its No. 2 position in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse rankings that were also released Monday. Virginia is ranked No. 1 again this week in the media poll, receiving 12 of 16 first-place votes and checked in with a total of 335 points. The Orange captured the other four first-place votes and totaled 328 points.
Syracuse and Virginia will square off on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
